Keeping it simple

John Hancock is an American based financial services firm, with business units in Life Insurance and Mutual Funds to name a couple. While running these business units separately helps them cater to individual customer needs, trying to interact with the company at a corporate level felt fragmented.

However when it came to the redesign, rather than trying to hide their corporate structure, we just wanted to make it easier to understand. This involved creating one-page content pieces for individual business units to clearly illustrate their offerings. By adhering to a principal of 'keeping it simple', the pages inform without becoming overhwelming

Another addition were the 'solutions' pages, which place various John Hancock products in the context of real world situations. This lets our users find ways to relate to the product offering.

Giving some context These solution pages help users understand where John Hancock products fit into their life situations. Page information was kept concise and to the point.
Helpful resources Product pages provide key resources which give the pages value, without being a pain to maintain.
'Non-financial' imagery More natural themed lifestyle photography was key in bringing a warmer and humane aspect to the redesign.
Beyond the financial world We wanted to show John Hancock outside the financial spectrum. We saw their large devotion to community involvement as a perfect opportunity.
