Designing for a friendly future

In the crowded Canadian mobile market, it can be hard to stand out. Luckily TELUS has a clear and strong visual language to support their 'future friendly' brand message. And that's what we needed to deliver—a smooth shopping experience for TELUS consumers

We looked at using large horizontally scrolling phone images to mimic the instore experience, and creating clear and concise product detail pages. Tools like comparison charts and enhanced photo galleries are nice value added touches.

For the design, we let the handsets and critters do all the talking. It was important for the site to be visually modular to allow for easy swap-outs as critters and handsets changed. Since we would not be building the site, a style guide was also put together to help designers and developers at TELUS.

Browsing with style The phone slider mimics an instore shopping experience where visuals are king. Secondary information appears on rollovers.
Clear details Phone details were divided into tabs to help prioritize essential information and reduce information overload.
Plans, plans, plans. TELUS has a LOT of plan options. To simplify the experience we start by segementing users by the type of plan they are looking for.
Helpful tools The comparison tool here makes comparing phones quick and easy.
Styleguide Since we wouldn't be building the site, a style guide was created to help the TELUS dev team.
